Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-11-12  optimal play: Accepting the draw was the best option for White. If 36.Kxe4? then 36...Rxf6 37.Rcc7 Re6+ with advantage to Black; or even 37.Kd5 Rxe7 38.Rc8+ Re8 39.Rxe8+ Kxe8 40.Rxa6 Rf5+ 41.Kc6 Rh5 also with advantage to Black.

However I’m not sure why Black was so compliant about a draw? If 36...h6+ 37.Kxh6 Rxf6+ 38.Kg5 Re6 and Black has potentially a better endgame.

btw the most common opening moves in Chess 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 were first played (according to CG.com) in this "off-hand" game between two obscure players almost a hundred years ago. The remainder of the game isn't particularly memorable or significant, but they probably deserve some recognition for being the first to play (or record for posterity) this most popular opening sequence.
