  missionmankiwi: 15 Bxf7+ was unsound, but it worked out well! Better 15 h3 Qh4 16 Rf3 Nf6 17 Qxf5 0-0 with a slight plus for White. 17...Qh5?? was a blunder. Much better is 17...Rhe8 18 e5 Qh5 19 Rxg7+ [ or 19 e6+ Kf8 20 Rg5 Qe2! ] 19... Kxg7 20 exf6+ Kh6 . Finally, of course if 18..Kxg7 19 Qxf6+ followed by mate. One of my more enjoyable games where I sacc'ed a Bishop (unsoundly) then Rook (completely soundly) for a winning attack.
Jul-30-12  LoveThatJoker: Excellent and instructive tactical ideas from White in this game!

A worthy GOTD!

Castleinthesky: A lot of fun that demonstrates that, sometimes, fireworks outweighs correct play.

kevin86: Black's queen:all dressed up and no place to go.

How about:"All Gold,no glitter"

Ari Gold would have played a better game.

Jul-30-12  theNonexistentKnight: After playing about a thousand blitz games as white using the Polish, I'd say I'd never do 5. dxc4 as black. Gives white exactly what he wants.

missionmankiwi: Thanks for the comments, folks. I completely agree with the Non-existent Knight.
