Kg7 27.Bc3+ also wins decisive material) 27.Re1 Rb6 28.Nd5 but White only seems to achieve a simplification of the game. Another option is 25.Qxb4 Bxb4 26.Bxb4 Rxb4 27.Nd5 (threatens Re7# and Nxb4): A) 27... Re4 28.Rxe4 fxe4 29.Re1 Ke6 30.Nc3 wins a second pawn. B) 27... Rb7 28.Rde1
B.1) 28... Nd7 29.Re7+ Kf8 30.Re8+ Kg7 (30... Kf7 31.R1e7#) 31.R1e7+ Kh8 (31... Kh6 32.Rxg8 wins) 32.Rxg8+ Kxg8 33.Rxd7 Rxd7 34.Nf6+ and 35.Nxd7 + - [N+P]. | May-04-18 | | Mayankk: Rooks are such like-for-like replacements that one can often sac one of them without affecting the potency of the Attack.
In this case, we have 5 White pieces pointing at the Black King but four of them are unique and difficult to replace. You realise that you can sac one Rook for a critical Black defender (Bishop), immediately bring the other Rook on the same file and proceed on exactly the same line of Attack.
An intuitive and instructive puzzle. |
