Jan-22-11  Whitehat1963: Monday puzzle after 22. Bb5. It's easy! No need to Panic.

  rhickma4: Black wins a piece with 22...Rxd2, and if 23.Qxd2 Nf3+.

lost in space: 22...Rxd2 and Black is up a piece and will win in addition the exchange with Nf3+

23. Qxd2 is bad due to Nf3+ with royal fork.

I love Mondays!

Aug-08-11  bachbeet: White can decline the rook but there's still a fork. Really good move by taking that knight.
Aug-08-11  Formula7: 22...Rxd2 wins a knight as 23.Qxd2 loses the queen after 23...Nf3+. Time to check.

FSR: The dreaded Panic Attack - 22...Rxd2!
Aug-08-11  bachbeet: I also think Panic'c move of the rook to d7 was to entice Perunovic to move that B to b5.

dzechiel: Black to move (22...?). Material even. "Very Easy."

White practically forces black to play

22...Rxd2

winning a piece, as after

23 Qxd2 Nf3+ 24 Kg2 Nxd2

black wins the queen for an exchange.

Aug-08-11  LIFE Master AJ: Very easy, 22...RxN/d2; and 23...Nf3+.

And I really don't understand some of the people on this site. My game with Tillis got deleted. One player was 2200+ the other over 2100.

Here you have a <LAFFER> between an 1800 and a 2000 player, neither one is a master.

When I post a game, someone will complain that I am ruining the quality of the database, but here ... not a word about any of this!

Go figure, I am about to give up even trying ...

M.Hassan: "Very Easy" Black to play 22....?
Black has a Bishop for a Knight.Considered equal.
Black can save attacked Rook on d7, gain a Knight and fork White's King and Queen:

22...........Rxd2
23.Qxd2 Nf3+

White can reduce casualties by declining taking the Rook: 22...........Rxd2
23.Qc1 Nf3+
24.Kh1 Bxe4
White looses a Knight and a pawn but is in serious trouble with four Black pieces (R,N,B & Q)aiming towards White King.

Aug-08-11  BiteByBits: of course, it is always interesting to see what led to this position. White makes an unforced error of attacking the rook and then leaving the f3 square weak.

A theme of removing the defender that leads to a fork, Rxd2, Nf3+ fork.

Aug-08-11  LIFE Master AJ: g3? & 22.Bb5??
Aug-08-11  BiteByBits: actually the enticing sequence would be a lot better if black plays Rfe8, then Rd7! Now white has a nice pin on the two rooks by playing Bb5! and faces the consequences. Of course if you want to make it more enticing it always takes more thought beforehand and you need to move more pieces so you waste more moves if they dont accept the bait.
Aug-08-11  Jamboree: Sure, it's an easy Monday puzzle, but there is one little almost-twist that makes it interesting!

22. ... Rxd2, then 23. Qc1!?, and if black tries to get greedy, white almost (but not quite) has a cheapo attempt: 23. ... Nf3+ 24. Kh1! Nxe1 25. Qxd2! and the knight is...almost trapped. But it can escape the way it came in. Unfortunately If White tries a plan to truly trap the knight by going 24. Kg2, then sadly 24. ... Nxe1 is check, and the cheapo doesn't work that way either.

Of course, black could sidestep the whole line just by retreating the rook on the 23rd move, running away a piece up, but people tend to be greedy, so it was worth checking it out just in case!

  morfishine: <22...Rxd2> 23.Qxd2 Nf3+

Even 2000-rated players can produce bloopers like <22.Bb5???>

Aug-08-11  stacase: Too easy

cocker: Monday and hope springs eternal.
Aug-08-11  TrollKing: <bachbeet: I also think Panic'c move of the rook to d7 was to entice Perunovic to move that B to b5.>

That's exactly what I thought when I played through this game. Black baited White and it worked.

agb2002: Black has the bishop pair for a bishop and a knight.

White threatens 23.Bxd7.

The knight on d2 defends the weak spot f3. Therefore, 22... Rxd2 - + [B] (23.Qxd2 Nf3+ and 24... Nxd2).

Aug-08-11  Skylark: At least I can still get Monday puzzles lol.
Aug-08-11  Dyonis: 22. ... Rxd2 23. Qc1 Bxe4! than if 24. Kf1 Bd3+ 25.Bxd3 Rxd3
