Sneaky: Kamsky knows the paradox about Achilles and the tortoise. If on each move, you spend half of the time on your clock, you will never run out of time.

Eyal: <Ulhumbrus: <Honza Cervenka: <Ulhumbrus: Now that Black has done something to answer the threat of f5 by uncovering his QB but also weakened himself on the e file, 15 Re3 threatens 16 Rh3 as well as `16 Rfe1> Unfortunately, 15...d4 16.Rh3 Ng5 spoils this.> No, it doesn't: 17 Bxg5.> Yes, it does: 17...Bxh3.

DrGridlock: <MyCatPlaysChess: Do computers evaluate this position as being better for white?>

Fritz sees it as +.09 after Black's 15 Qc5+

suenteus po 147: <Sneaky> Very clever! However, spending 1 minute on an only-move vs. spending 8 minutes on an only-move are two very different things :)
Feb-18-09  jeremy24: Qc5+ here maybe...Correct me O great players.

dotsamoht: OMG! 13 minutes? Gata, get a move on!
Feb-18-09  Mateo: 15...Qd6 unpinning the Knight seems playable. If 17.f5?! Nef4.
Feb-18-09  ajile: After ..Qd6 or ..Qc5+ the game is dead =.
Feb-18-09  jordanwyattchess: <Sneaky: Kamsky knows the paradox about Achilles and the tortoise. If on each move, you spend half of the time on your clock, you will never run out of time.>

lol...I like that, however, and unfortunantly, Sneaky, the clock ultimately has discrete units of time. One vibration of a quartz-whatever-thingy-majig. SO as some point you can no longer split the time period in half.

Feb-18-09  AnalyzeThis: If Bobby Fischer had this position as black, he'd be moving quickly and accurately, and would really put the pressure on.
Feb-18-09  al.Bashir: looks like Qc5+ followed by d4 forces a queen trade and thus the end of Kamsky due to time troubles.

Sneaky: <ajile: Qd6> How does that address the threat of f4? Oh I see, 15.f4 Nef4 is OK for Black! Better than OK, in fact.

Nigel Short: I don't care what the computers say (although they are probably right, as usual) but I think the attack is, in practice, really rather dangerous. Homo ludens is not such a great defender, in general. And if you had this position with Black against Misha Tal, you would be pretty damned nervous I can tell you.

Domdaniel: <Sneaky> Actually you start to *gain* time if you can manage to move your clock hand faster than the speed of light.

  Eyal: 15...Qc5+ may lead to 16.Be3 d4 17.Bxg6 Qxh5 18.Bxh5 dxe3 19.Rxe3, or 17...hxg6 18.Qxc5 Nxc5 19.Bxd4.

acirce: Some of those lines leading to queens getting traded and White getting the pawn back should be fairly drawish.

Feb-18-09  attack and destroy: <GM Dimitrov>:
11... f6 12.Rae1 Ne6 The position is very complex and it is very hard to say without deep analysis which is the best way to play it. White obviously has compensation for the pawn but soon may experience time trouble. Time: 0.27 1.44

13.Bd3 O-O 14.Bd2 d5 Topalov is still playing very rapidly

15.f4 Winning back the pawn by capturing on 'g6' would lead to approximate equality. Having spent so much time - he has only 13 minutes left - Kamsky needs more convincing solution
