ajile: Looks like Kamsky is back to playing Kamsky style chess. Good news for Kamsky fans. Solid opening-gets a slight advantage-outplays opponent in middlegame.

:o)

AnalyzeThis: I think either way wins. Kamsky has been making a living winning games like this his whole career.

dakgootje: according to the official site, Kamsky still has 9 minutes left (unless obviously I really need glasses)

marcwordsmith: now what if Topa moves Re1?

Chicago Chess Man: I think Top's done. Is there anyway to stop the threats of Ne4 or Rc6?

jessicafischerqueen: Ah yes <Kh3> defuses threat if Qf6- then Qh4

HolyKnight: Well that stinky knight on g3 is the only thing stopping mate.

chessic eric: <jfq> I'm not sure, but Rc4 does defend h4 in the event of ...Qf6 here. How that is better than forcing the queens off i don't get...

AnalyzeThis: <chessFox: Is there TIME! >

Sure. This thing is going to be wrapped up shortly.

Great game, Mr. Kamsky!!!

TheAlchemist: If 54...Qf6 then probably 55.Kh3

SuperPatzer77: If Black chooses either 54...Qd8 or Qf6, then White defends against Qh4# with 55. Rc4 - only move to prevent 55...Qh4#.

  DrGridlock: < jessicafischerqueen: or not.

Black has Qf6 now, no?

How does White defend against mate threat then?>

Kh3

  Eyal: <Jess> Either Kh3 or Qc8 (to allow Qh3).

marcwordsmith: ah. To answer my own question, if Topa plays Re1 then Kamsky wins with Rc6! and Topa cannot take the d pawn because of the check/discovered attack

AnalyzeThis: If Topalov doesn't play 54.... e4 that knight is going to e4 and it's good bye.

chessic eric: <jessicafischerqueen: Ah yes <Kh3> defuses threat if Qf6- then Qh4> aha! much better than Rc4

  autolycus: Isn't Kh3 a safe response to Qf6?
Feb-21-09  kamalakanta: Will Black play 54...e4?

shreesh: I think Alchemist is right . Q--f6 -- then K--h3 nullifies it with N--e4 to follow .

Nigel Short: I do find that a remarkable choice given the fact they have been playing the best part of 6 hours and Kamsky still has 6 moves to make until move 60. He has brought a third result into the equation.

ajile: If Kamsky can play like this game with better time management he has a great chance to turn this match into a real battle.
