Mar-17-09  zdigyigy: Is there something wrong with 10...Bxc3 and 11...Nxe4 and 12...0-0?

JohnBoy: <zdig> - I would play 12.Ba3 and try to strand your king in the center.
Mar-31-09  zdigyigy: <JohnBoy>yeah white does get Ba3. but what about black playing 12...c5 there? what about grabbing on c3? Looks like white just drops a center pawn....I dont know though.

JohnBoy: <zdig> - I did a bit of searching and found C Kottnauer vs Smyslov, 1946. Smyslov followed 12.Ba3 with neither 12...c5 nor 12...Nxc3.

An immediate refutation of either of these is not apparent. But after the first it seems like white has 13.Ne5 and threats like Nxg6 or Bb5 start making the black position look like it is held together by string. After the second, 13.Qb2 and Qxb7 make it look like black cannot hold the pawns and will be left with a hopelessly weak a pawn.
