Mar-16-09  xiko9: 34. Qc7??? Isn't there a best option???I don't understand OO
Mar-16-09  Ipecac: With 34 Qc7 Yue clearly wanted to avoid Topalov having doubled towers in an open file, which is known to be a very powerful set.

???but he offers the queen for free! Isn't it important?!

Mar-16-09  tal lover: <xiko9>: In such kind of position i agree with <Ipecac>, avoid doubled towers in an open file is really important, its a good move sacrifice the queen. 34. Qc7!?
Mar-16-09  Vorph: <xiko9> You're being made fun of, this is obviously a blunder by Wang Yue due to this being a blindfold game. I.e. the players do not see the board. It seems he simply forgot there was a black rook on d7 and thus believed his queen would be safe on c7.

It might also have been a mouse slip since the blindfold games at the Amber Tournament are played using computers.

Mar-16-09  schroedingers cat: Felt sorry for Yue. Amber is not going good for him.

  An Englishman: Good Evening: The Queen blunder is a great pity, because Topalov's earlier Queen sacrifice (blunder?) had led to an intriguing position after 33...Bf5.
Mar-16-09  Ladolcevita: ==
WangYue made a classical blindfold blunder,that is queen sac in vain..... Why not let Bu XiangZhi participate?He seems quite well in Blindfold and Rapid games...
Mar-16-09  Ladolcevita: we know prodigies are usually talented and outstanding in blindfold and rapid games....
Mar-17-09  s4life: yeah Bu is badass in blindfold wonder why he's never been here..
Mar-17-09  Eban: Bu's rating is too low to be invited and he's too old to qualify via the NH Tournament.
Mar-17-09  M.D. Wilson: Massive blunder. Topalov was perhaps lucky in this game.
Mar-19-09  Stanley Yee: <An Englishman: Topalov's earlier Queen sacrifice (blunder?)> Agree entirely. 19 ... f5 then ... Bd7 is the plan, but a pawn down. Or maybe the other pawn grab 19 ... Bxb2 20. Re2 Bg7 21. Rd2 and I would rather be White.
