Once: <chessaddict25> Happy to oblige. Fritz says that white has the edge for much of the game. From 26. Rb8+ it's a forced mate with no way for black to defend.

Mar-16-11  Draughtexcluder: Very good, but with such active pieces, an open board and the initiative i think a lot of people would feel comfortable entering the attack through just a feeling.. I am not suggesting it was a 'coffee house' attack though..

Richard Taylor: It is sound if (he?) won. And Tiger Hillarp P. had or has some reputation as an attacking player himself!

GerMalaz: He indeed. Italian version of Daniel.
Mar-16-11  Penguincw: What a nice game.Vocaturo won even though he didn't castle.
Mar-16-11  BishopsPawn: Of White's first 10 moves, 8 of them are pawn moves, and 9.Bd2 was forced! With a glance at the position after move 9, I would instantly assume black has a huge lead in development having dispatched all his minor pieces and his Q and can castle as he chooses. White, on the other hand still has most of his back rank still sitting at home.

I guess this is a case where appearances can be deceiving. Black really can't safely castle to either side because of soon-to-be open b and g files, and all of White's pieces with the exception of the knight are active or threatening even if they haven't even moved. Black must castle to develop his rooks while White doesn't, and the closed center offers ample protection for White's king.

Fascinating game from start to finish!

kevin86: "This time Daniele tames the Tiger"

A very funny king chase...

Mar-16-11  KingV93: Amazing game! Very entertaining. White is really going for it with an unorthodox, all out attack against a higher rated opponent.

It looks as if Black almost 'castles into it' by playing 0-0-0 with a White rook already on b1 and the half-open b file, though that rook gets sacrificed in order to prise open the defense. The h1 rook enters the game in dramatic fashion and gets sacrificed as well to start the King hunt. Brilliant!

<CG> Great entertaining game. More please!

Mar-16-11  picard: Finally a game with some imagination!! i love the early h pawn push, as it allows 18 Rh3. white doesnt have to worry about the the rook sac on move 13 due to this extra rook coming into play so early!!
Mar-16-11  goodevans: I guess the point of h4/h5/h6 was to discourage K-side castling.

It must say something (but I'm not quite sure what) that white can "waste" so much time giving away his h-pawn and still achieve a superior position.

Mar-16-11  Travis Bickle: I love to see a Busted French!

sevenseaman: 26. Rb8+, a move of deep calculation. It and those that follow it have an effect of throwing the Black Q into the well and hauling the enemy king out of it by its hair.

White reckoned he could finish him off with two Bs and his Q if the Black Q was rendered hors de combat.

Mar-16-11  joupajou: 19. ..c4!

Possible continuation e.g. 20.dxe7 cxb3 21. exd8Q Kxd8 22.cxb3 Qxd4

Black controls some central squares, but his pawns in a6 and h6 are vulnerable (see the white bishops on f1 and d2). If, however, 23.Bxa6 or 23.Bxh6 black plays 23. ..Nxe5, and white has some major problems.

So, white should play 23. Nf3. Black queen only has one way to go, i.e. 23. ..Qg4. Doesn't look too bad for black.

Yes, remarkable. Fischer didnt like the Winawer, he thought it was antipositional, and I felt the same way even before I read that. B compromises his own position so much, e.g. giving himself a bad LSB and exchanging off his DSB. What I can never undestand is that 3. Nd2 is played so much, choosing an inferior square for the N just to stop B from playing it.

Mar-16-11  WhiteRook48: I personally would have played 28 Bf4+ because my chess senses are not sharp enough to see that I can get the king

Breunor: Maybe black should play 9...h6? Could this move blunt some of the wihite early play?

sevenseaman: <"Agent Provocateur">? I do not see the counter-intelligence angle! Or is the pun prompted by merely the name 'Vocaturo'?
Mar-17-11

Breunor: My guess is that the pun refers to an 'agent provacateur', which is often an agent who tries to invoke a suspect to make a mstake - and it is a French term. Here, with the French defense and the craziness ...

tpstar: <is the pun prompted by merely the name 'Vocaturo'?> Yes.

"Agent Provocateur" was also the 1984 album by Foreigner, back when they made albums. :-)

Brilliant game.

Mar-29-11  belgradegambit: <joupajou> After 19...c4! 20.dxe7 cxb3, White has 21 cxb3! Qxd4 22 Bxa6+ and while Black is much better than in the game I like White's chances. I think White's rook was an Agent Provocateur getting inside the enemy camp and provoking 13...a6 and 15...b6.
Jan-15-12  KKDEREK: Amazing game!
Jan-16-12  JoergWalter: <is the pun prompted by merely the name 'Vocaturo'?>

imagine it would have been "Voratco u".
