With a glance at the position after move 9, I would instantly assume black has a huge lead in development having dispatched all his minor pieces and his Q and can castle as he chooses. White, on the other hand still has most of his back rank still sitting at home. I guess this is a case where appearances can be deceiving. Black really can't safely castle to either side because of soon-to-be open b and g files, and all of White's pieces with the exception of the knight are active or threatening even if they haven't even moved. Black must castle to develop his rooks while White doesn't, and the closed center offers ample protection for White's king. Fascinating game from start to finish! |

| Mar-16-11 | | KingV93: Amazing game! Very entertaining. White is really going for it with an unorthodox, all out attack against a higher rated opponent. It looks as if Black almost 'castles into it' by playing 0-0-0 with a White rook already on b1 and the half-open b file, though that rook gets sacrificed in order to prise open the defense. The h1 rook enters the game in dramatic fashion and gets sacrificed as well to start the King hunt. Brilliant! |

If, however, 23.Bxa6 or 23.Bxh6 black plays 23. ..Nxe5, and white has some major problems. So, white should play 23. Nf3. Black queen only has one way to go, i.e. 23. ..Qg4. Doesn't look too bad for black. |

Fischer didnt like the Winawer, he thought it was antipositional, and I felt the same way even before I read that. B compromises his own position so much, e.g. giving himself a bad LSB and exchanging off his DSB. What I can never undestand is that 3. Nd2 is played so much, choosing an inferior square for the N just to stop B from playing it. |

21 cxb3! Qxd4 22 Bxa6+ and while Black is much better than in the game I like White's chances. I think White's rook was an Agent Provocateur getting inside the enemy camp and provoking 13...a6 and 15...b6. |
