Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-07-09  SniperOnG7: Grischuk got clobbered in this one. Well played by Belov - the plan of 33. d6, Rc7, RxNf7 was a simple yet very effective exchange sacrifice that won all of Grischuk's central pawns.

In the resulting position, white's pawn roller, supported by his centralized pieces, was just too strong. Black's rooks proved to be utterly useless.

whiteshark: <35.Re7!> says indirectly that it's an illusion that Pd6 is hanging...

<35... Nxd6? 36.Qg2> (that what open files are for; one threat is Qg5#) <...Qxe7 37.Qxg6#> (that's the other one).

Mar-28-10  vonKrolock: <whiteshark> - interesting line... let see ... And if Qd6 Qd6 Nd6 Re6 Nf7 only move Reg6 Kh7 Rg7 check Kh8 Be5! Ne5 (otherwise a discovered check) Rg5 Rf7 Rh5 check Rh7 R take N and white is better (well, this is what i would play in a blind game, but maybe there's something better in this variation...) !?

whiteshark: <vonKrolock> There is still some work to do at the end of your line... I thought that after <35.Re7! Qxd6 36.Qxd6 Nxd6 <37.Bxe5>> the black position is about to collapse.

(Threats are Bxd6, Bg7+ or Bf4+)

Mar-29-10  vonKrolock: <whiteshark> ok, Ne8 hold but then white is better with Re6 Rg8 Bxf4 etc or even taking the `b`P for a start

< There is still some work to do at the end of your line... > After 35.Re7 Qxd6 36.Qxd6 Nxd6 37.Re6 Nf7 38.Rexg6+ Kh7 39.Rg7+ Kh8 analysis diagram
