  luzhin: If So had played 33...Bxf1?? then 34.Rxg6+ hxg6 35.Qh8+ Kf7 36.Qf6+ Kg8 37.Qg6+ and mate next move.
May-23-09  jon01: <ruelas007> I think you have a good point here. Wesley So doesn't play French indeed and Hou has been playing the same variation several times.
May-25-09  shintaro go: <ruelas007> You need photographic evidence? Is the game notation not enough?
May-25-09  Manuel G. Vergara: GM So played the French against Hou Yifan because he wants to experience what Ivanchuk means about the variant Kissing the Queen. Now, that is what we call the French Kiss!!!
May-25-09  SugarDom: French Defence - French Kiss Variation...

This is the opening to play against women, bro...

:)

May-25-09  SugarDom: Against Humpy Koneru use Queen's Indian Defence...

Againts Vishwanathan use Old Indian Defence...

Against Sasikiran use the Indian Defence, Anti-Curry Variation...

May-25-09  kurtrichards: Good that GM So drew this game against Ms. Hou. The French defense is new in his repertoire. Usually he defends with the Sicilian.
May-25-09  timhortons: < luzhin> What engine are you using?

I ran this with rybka, yifan is ahead in eval for almost the game but not winning advantage at all.

Open Defence: <tim> I think <Luzhin's> line was if Black had played 33...Bxf1?? but he didnt in the actual game

luzhin: That's right, Open Defence; and, timhortons, the only 'engine' I was using was a brain -- a small thing, but my own.
Jun-27-09  Whitehat1963: I'd say this was very well fought on both sides of the board. Extremely mature play for a couple of youngsters.
Nov-26-09  Benzmagnus05: Wesley can easily adopt any opening he's gifted anyway...
