Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-05-09   catlin: Seth finds 27 Rxg6! to hold. I wonder if GM Kudrin might have tried 26...Rd1+!? to keep the ball in play.
Jul-14-09   Phoenix: 26...Rd1+ would have been a very interesting try for a win. I saw the possibility right after I took on e6 (Rybka preferred I play 26.cxd4 and Black has to take the perpetual). Michael Bowersock and I looked at it a little bit after the game, and we concluded that Black would have good play thanks to my weakened king and scattered pawns. Whether it is enough for an advantage...it is hard to tell.

Considering how low on time I was, 26...Rd1+ would have been a good practical try for a win. That passed a-pawn could be trouble and a Queen on a2 and a Bishop on f5 could really tie my pieces down.
