Ulhumbrus: <ketchuplover: <Ulhumbrus> I think only Tal would try it.> Perhaps with Queens still on the board

Robin01: White needs to develop his dark-square bishop.

Robin01: Okay, I guess he did not think that was important right now.

tamar: The engines play Black aggressively after Bf1 with a Kside expansion g6 and later f5 f4.

Black's advantage if any is miniscule, and probably only based on squares controlled rather than a useful plan.

agb2002: White is behind in development but it seems easier for him to devise a plan (Nc4-f3-Be3) than for Black.

whiteshark: Just a thought: If you want a long but balanced struggle trade the queens off.

Ulhumbrus: Carlsen threatens to creep up on to Leko's weaknesses. How does Leko propose to answer the threat? Perhaps by finding ways to exchange the creepers, or else by finding threats of his own to creep towards.

twinlark: White has a nice square with <c4> now.
Jul-09-09  kamalakanta: Now I think Black is better! His pieces are more developed, and they are all aiming at the Queenside!

Ulhumbrus: One of the creepers has been exchanged. Now Leko has to stop the other N from creeping on to his weaknesses

Domdaniel: I prefer 21...f6, to free the Nc6 and allow ...Nxb4 if white plays cxb4.

twinlark: Neither side controls the open file or is likely to, both sides have potential outpost squares on the c-file, the pawn structures are intact and equal and opposite. But Black has the two bishops.

This looks like a draw coming up, maybe after a long endgame grind if Leko fancies his chances.

agb2002: <Domdaniel: I prefer 21...f6, to free the Nc6 and allow ...Nxb4 if white plays cxb4.> That makes sense although I'd prefer ... Bxb4 to have the possibility of ... Nd4.

twinlark: Why would White consider taking the pawn on b4?

<Phil> Yeah I know, but I like the look of Black's. All right, I stuffed up, but it still looks dead equal.
