tamar: What's wrong with ...Qd8. It looks okay to me.

PinnedPiece: Oops. Anand apparently felt Qc6 was the bigger threat. I guess We'll see...
Nov-11-09  stopaj25: if anand plays Qg5 then the white queen comes up to c6 threatining the night and the e8 square

  Eyal: Following <tamar>'s post, an example of a drawing line would be 29....Qd8 30.Qg6 Qxd4+ 31.Kh1 Re3! 32.Qxe6+ Kh7 33.Qf5+ etc.

  Ulhumbrus: On 31 Kh1 Re3 prevents Be4

cornflake: Yeah that looks like a draw- not enough here for either side to win.
Nov-11-09  Nf3em: MC must force a draw or else ... 0:1

Sokrates: Just in for a check. I would be highly surprised, if Anand can't win this position. Carlsen has huge difficulties i manoeuvering his pieces into serious threatening positions.

cornflake: definitely, MC should take the perp here.

Ulhumbrus: On d4 the black Queen both defends the N on b6 against the fork Qxe6+ and attacks the square e3 a second time, thus helping to prevent Be4

Marmot PFL: Unfortunately for these 2 Ponomariov blundered against Kramnik.

tamar: <Sokrates> Just the opposite. Look at the position, and then at the position 8 moves ago. Pity there is no win, but still shows dazzling vision to see this coming.
Nov-11-09  obientag: <After 32.Qf7+ its 1/2> please anand accept that it is a draw, i will lose my 200 chessbucks if u beat MC...go magnus go.... magnus drawlsen please.

  Eyal: Although maybe Carlsen could keep playing with 32.Bc6 (threatening Rf8+! and mate) Qc5! 33.Qxe6+ Kh7 34.Qf5+ Kg8 35.Be4 Rxe4 36.Qxe4.

tamar: Nothing more than to handshake and for Anand to make a sly reference to giving his best regards to Garry.

AgentRgent: <Chessgames> If they draw, could we have Kramnik-Ponomariov?

Ulhumbrus: If the attack 12 g4 is unsound and the game ends in a draw this suggests that instead of returning the pawn by 15...Nd7 it may be better for Black to play 15...c5 and if 16 e4 Nc6

PinnedPiece: Calsen must be considering 34.e6 here.

chessgames.com: <AgentRgent: <Chessgames> If they draw, could we have Kramnik-Ponomariov?> Quite possible, assuming that game is still going on when these two shake hands. If not then we're looking at Gelfand-Aronian.
Nov-11-09  DEEPERGRAY: how anout g5? crazy no

Sneaky: <DEEPERGRAY: how anout g5? crazy no> Huh? g5 in what variation?

If you were thinking of ...g6 as an answer to 34.Qf8+ Kh7 35.Qf5+ then yes it's quite crazy. So crazy that the World Champion would get mated in a few moves starting with with Rf7+.

Nov-11-09  obientag: draw...wow amazing game magnus drawlsen.
