Jambow: Not to impressive to see someone playing the Evans Gambit and miss such a simple forced mate :o(

29.Bxf7+ is unplayable. If you mean 29.Bxg7 Nxg7 30.Nxh6+ Kh8, then where is the mate?

pawn to QB4: hi kp - maybe the idea is 30.Bxg7+ Kg8 31.Nxh6+ Kxg7 32.Qxh7# - deadly accuracy except for the move number, the bishop move being one diagonal out and the possibility that Black might play 30...Nxg7? Might work at my club if you pick the right opponent, bang the pieces down, shout check and set up for the next game as quick as you can.

Jambow: Sorry it should have started on move #30 after the king moved to h8 thanks for the correction <pawn to QB4>.

I initially wondered why Ba3 was played with so many pieces bearing down on blacks king, that a mate might be present seemed likely and it was.

As <pawn to QB4> pointed out there isn't a mate on move 30 either, unless you can find one after 30.Bxg7+ Nxg7. I thought for a second that 30.Nxg7 BxQ 31.N-somewhere might work, but I don't think it does.

Jul-27-11  James Bowman: Oops how did that happen. Yup just missed it can't win if knight takes.
