whiteshark: A bad start for Spasski. He overpressed the position with <36...b5>. In contrast, the N endgame after <36...Rd5 37.f4 Ra5 38.Rxa5 bxa5> looks equal.

  Honza Cervenka: Already 35...a4 was quite optimistic but as <whiteshark> suggested the ending after 36...Rd5 37.f4 [or 37.Rxa4 Rxe5 38.Rb4 Re3 39.Kg2 (39.f4 Nf6 40.Rxb6 Nd5 41.Rb7 Nxf4+ =) 39...Re2+ 40.Kg1 Nf6 41.Rxb6 Nd5 42.Rb3 Ne3 with extra Pawn but minimal winning chances for white] 37...Ra5 38.Rxa5 bxa5 should be viable for black. 37...b4 was a blunder in already bad situation. 37...Rb2 was definitely better.

AnalyzeThis: Korchnoi got nothing out of this opening. Spassky was just a little too ambitious here.
