Dec-25-09  birthtimes: Pogo's poor sense of danger; too much focus on attack and not enough on defense...

Natalia Pogonina: I had a comfortable position, analyzed at home, and 30 minutes of advantage - my opponent clearly lost the thread. But then my brain switched off and I started playing in a lame & drunk cockroach style: staring at the board without thinking for 15-20 moves and then shuffling a random piece. That happens with young mums, you know. :-)
Jan-01-10  M.D. Wilson: Don't worry too much, Natalia :).
Nov-15-10  howlwolf: It looks to me that the exchange sac is unnecessary. can't black just play 22. . . Nxe5. looks like white has to play Nxe5 in response and after Bxe5 Natalia has a nice Benko position with lots of prospects to bring home the point. I am sympathetic to the young mum, however, and pulling for her as she wrestles with the world. With apologies to Chaucer I don't think her position in that contest is asking for a fall.
