whiteshark: It looks like a premature resign. Maybe the score is incomplete?
Dec-25-09  Kangaroo: White lost on time, but the position is almost lost anyway...

  whiteshark: <Kangaroo> Thanks.

I think the game ran out of balance when White played <38.d6?>. He lost the pawn three moves later.

With <38.Re4!> Pd5(+Pa4) remains protected and the position seems to be with balanced chances.

Chessical: <39. f3> proves to be insufficient, but the alternative <39. Nd5!?> also seems to fail after:

<39... Rc1+> 40. Re1 Rxe1+ 41. Rxe1 Rc6 42.Nf4 Bf5 43. Rd1 Ke8 44. Re1+ Kd7 45. Re7+ Kxd6 46. Rxf7 h5

waustad: I was watching (on the net) and white's clock went all the way down. Spassky's clock got down to a few minutes too and then the official site stopped responding. I don't read Russian beyond being able to sound out some names, so an explanation wouldn't have helped much.

talisman: These guys must really be close to spend Christmas together!
Dec-25-09  Petrosianic: Let's just say that Kalmykian night life is not the swingingest. They not only roll up the sidewalks after dark, but the buildings too.
Dec-28-09  arnaud1959: We know how much Korchnoi is dangerous when he starts pushing his central pawns but it seems that Spassky wasn't impressed so much by them.

Ulhumbrus: 13 Ned2 undevelops the N to avoid exchanging pieces. An alternative is 13 0-0.
