Feb-25-10  kkshethin: Am i First???
Feb-25-10  Once: And, until now, the only...

I wonder how many people got bored clicking their way through all 109 moves? My left mouse finger is aching.

I'm temporarily Fritz-less so would be interested if anyone can point out either a quicker way for white to win or whether black could have drawn this mammoth game.

Feb-25-10  tsvanerp: 61 c2-c4 mate in 27
Feb-25-10  mike1: well, at least Landa could have had the same position as after move 96 already after move 72. Looking for Blacks chances I would go for 41... fxe4 instead of Kxe4.This would allow black to pin whites king down and his own king to come to f5 or even g4.
Feb-25-10  ounos: Oh come on, 106. ...Bf6, let us see the real finish
Feb-25-10  AccDrag: Was it worth carpal tunnel syndrome to see the whole game?!
Feb-25-10  mike1: AccDrag: Answer: no.
it is certainly difficult to pick
different GOTD every day but this one....
Feb-25-10  kevin86: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Feb-25-10  RandomVisitor: Black might have started to go astray with the pointless 13...Qb6. Better might have been 13...f5, or perhaps 12...f5.
Feb-25-10  whiteshark: I think this kind of long endgame is called <sea snake>.
Feb-25-10  Eisenheim: I admit I woulve taken a draw many of times here!

Domdaniel: Beautiful win. Just a different kind of complexity from usual, maybe more subtle and certainly very determined.

Domdaniel: And optimism ... maybe it should be called 'Landa Hope & Glory'.

Phony Benoni: <Domdaniel> Probably not. There was plenty of circumstance, but not much pomp.
Feb-25-10  hedgeh0g: Well, I think it's an apt choice for game of the day, because it took me a day to click through it.
Jul-17-11  sfm: 106.-,Be3?? was a blunder putting the bishop on the g1-a7 diagonal, allowing for the tactics. If instead e.g. 106.-,Bd8 I see no way for White to make progress.
Jul-17-11  sfm: But he can! Checking with tablebases I see that White was winning all the time.
