My guess would be that Black just plays 33...Rxf3 anyway. Now 34.Rxg4 Rxf1+ 35.Kg2 Rxh1 wins a whole rook, so White may have to play 34.Rxf3 Qxf3. This would be even worse than the game, since Black's pieces are just as active and he doesn't have an exposed pawn on g4.
