I always tend to play the winnawer against the french but often get blown away. Is the tarrasch easier to play and/or less likely to implode on white if he isn't sure what he's doing?

  Robin01: I think the tarrasch is easier to play than the winnawer. I believe there are more early tactics in the winnawer, thus more theory to study regarding traps and tricks.
