Feb-15-10  Knight13: <An Englishman: Good Morning: Any ideas on what Black might try here?>

Good Evening: Black should keep pressure on that b-pawn.

Feb-15-10  chessic eric: after the exchange on b8, white can play 30.Bf1

Marmot PFL: 31...Nd6 seems to recover the pawn but white his positional edge after e5.

  kb2ct:

Why aren't Kramnik, Anand, and Shirov playing??

:0)

Feb-15-10  percyblakeney: The engines want Na7 so e5 can be met with f6.

Eyal: 30.f4 is important so as to meet 30...Nd6 with 31.e5, and now after 31...Nxb5, with the diagonal of the black bishop blocked, there's the strong 32.Rb2.
Feb-15-10  Bondsamir: How big is the potential of the d-pawn no?

sofouuk: ouch ... are things that bad already?

  karnak64: 30 ... g5 -- I'm very surprised and never would have guessed.

tamar: 30...g5 looks desperate, but Topalov is very dangerous when cornered like this.

Marmot PFL: 30...g5 is inspiration or desperation

Eyal: Now after 31.e5 Black's position seems to be on the verge of collapse. Rybka was recommending 30...Na7 31.e5 f6, with "only" something like +0.70, but the lines were looking very difficult for Black as well.

Marmot PFL: 31 e5 looks natural and good

SCUBA diver: I think g5 was an error. It allows e5 to save the b pawn.

tamar: Maybe the idea is to provoke e5, play ...f6 and after e6 put the knight to d6 as a blockader.
Feb-15-10  black.pr0jekt: lol its over for topalov
Feb-15-10  Bondsamir: Carlsen looks also in desperation!!

Marmot PFL: Black want white to play e6 so he can play Nd6, but his king position is very weak now. Moves like Be4 and Rg2 after the N moves look dangerous.

tamar: 33 Qe4 looks interesting, and I'd expect Aronian to play something other than 33 e6 here

Shams: Just started watching; has <tamar> correctly predicted every move or just the last few?

Check It Out: The queenside looks to be liquidated, and then those white d and e pawns look dangerous.
Feb-15-10  black.pr0jekt: correctly predicted? u think these guys are robots, rofl.

OhioChessFan: 34...Qg5 just to activate some perpetual possibilities.

whiteshark: 2 connected central passed pawns. That is worth a rook or the like

tamar: Nah, I missed most of the moves of this game <Shams> It still is not clear how White gets his pawns through, have to wait to see what Aronian dreams up,

Maybe sacrifice b5 to get the knight back in the game via c4
