| Feb-15-10 | | Knight13: T-Lov is now T-Bagged.
(NO PUN INTENDED!!!!!!!!!) |
Feb-15-10
 | | OhioChessFan: 35. e6 looks obvious, but I wonder if Aronian wants to allow Nd6 |
| Feb-15-10 | | Knight13: Yo, is there a way for T-Lov to save this game? |
Feb-15-10
 | | An Englishman: Good Morning: Grischuk did very well to hold the draw in a difficult position. In the third game, both players are in terrible time trouble in an intricate position. |
Feb-15-10
 | | OhioChessFan: FWIW Fritz preferred 34...Na7 |

Feb-15-10
 | | Check It Out: <tamar>, you're on a roll! |
Feb-15-10
 | | karnak64: I meant Nc4, and am gratified to see it played (previous, embarrasing post deleted). |
Feb-15-10
 | | Calli: Probably 35.Nc4 and then d6 |
Feb-15-10
 | | tamar: Now 35...Bb5 36 h4 Qg6 37 Qxg6 hg 38 Rb2 a3 and all bets are off! |
Feb-15-10
 | | Eyal: <35.Nc4 That's probably why Aronian opted for 35. Nc4. but here Black can simply take on b5 wit Bxb5. and suddenly all Black pieces are in play again and White doesn' have the advatage he had a few moves ago.> (Kosteniuk) Engines seem to agree - Rybka & Fritz give White only a minimal advantage now. |

Feb-15-10
 | | OhioChessFan: 35. Nc4 Bxb5 36. Rb2 a3 37. Nxa3 Bd3 38. Qxd3 Velllllllly interesting.

| Feb-15-10 | | patcheck: I think d6 is very strong for white |
Feb-15-10
 | | OhioChessFan: <karnak> we knew what you meant and that's what got me to post that line. I think that such positions are one area the engines aren't all that great. |
Feb-15-10
 | | chancho: Passed d and e pawns could be troublesome. |
Feb-15-10
 | | Appaz: Very exciting game!
Don't hold it against the players that they don't follow the computer lines and commit "errors" according to the machines. The Rybka variations are terrible complex, with lots of small tactical points. A middle game like this, with 4 passed pawns, near naked kings and queens left on board must be a nightmare to play. |
| Feb-15-10 | | Knight13: <chancho: Passed d and e pawns could be troublesome.> Could be? You must know something that the rest of us don't. Why <could be> instead of <are>? |
Feb-15-10
 | | OhioChessFan: Fritz gives an immediate 0.00 after h4. |
| Feb-15-10 | | patcheck: Dh6, d6 Fxc4, Dxc4+, Rh8 or f8, Dxc5 |
Feb-15-10
 | | whiteshark: 36.h4 to throw the black queen back. |
Feb-15-10
 | | Eyal: <tamar: Now 35...Bb5 36 h4 Qg6 37 Qxg6 hg 38 Rb2 a3 and all bets are off!> Black may improve here with the tricky 38...Nd6! 39.Nxd6 a3 40.Ra2 Bxe2 41.Rxe2 Bxe5! (42.Rxe5 a2 43.Re1 Rb1). |
| Feb-15-10 | | marcwordsmith: <Appaz> Agreed, though not sure "nightmare" is the word. Hopefully these guys enjoy themselves a little. (?) But anyway, yeah, sometimes I miss the days when the authoritative frame of reference for us spectators was the actual moves made by top grandmasters, instead of these impassive engines churning out "+0.24" and the like. |

Feb-15-10
 | | tamar: If the queen had to go to e7 White would still be winning. But on g6 Black would be attacking both defenders of e5, so he may be okay. |
| Feb-15-10 | | patcheck: Dxcf-Dh4, d7 |
Feb-15-10
 | | tamar: <Eyal> ...Nd6 looks like a key move in a couple of variations
Topalov may have escaped. |
Feb-15-10
 | | OhioChessFan: Could a good carbon analyst to tell me why Fritz was so wrong with 36...Qh5 rating at .05 and next best 36...Qh6 at 1.17 |
