Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-19-10  goodevans: Quite apart from white's central pawns, black is about to lose material. <38 ... Bc8> is met by <39 Rc2>, whilst <38 ... Ba8> falls to <39 Rf2> followed by <Rf8>.
Jun-19-10  suenteus po 147: Very nice play by Gelfand, wisely eschewing the Catalan.

HeMateMe: nice positonal squeeze here. In this opening, does black know he is going to lose a pawn, or was this just bad play on the part of Pono?
Jun-20-10  wordfunph: 14...b6 was the turning point, twas also my preferred move but Stockfish says 14...a6 and the rest is a matter of technique for Boris, 1-0!
Jun-20-10  Ulhumbrus: As Rogozenco has indicated in his comments to the game at the chessbase website, on 17...Bxd5 White just withdraws the N on d4 to any one of several squares (excluding c6) thus discovering a pin as well as an overpowering second attack upon the B on d5.
Jan-28-11  onur87: perfect positional play!
Jan-28-11  mastermind7994: Yes. It is more or less looking busted after move 17.
