Jun-25-10  mpl: The thread is with the idea 24.. Nh3 and 25.. Rg1+ 26. Rxg1 Nxf2++ Since moves of the h-pawn looses quickly due to rooks on the h- and g-line, 24. Rg1 is forced. But then the bishop on a2 is lost: 24. Rg1 Rxg1+ 25. Rxg1 Rxg1+ 26. Kxg1 Ne2+ 27. Kf1 Nxc3

  perfidious: In the tournament book of Nottingham 1936, Alekhine criticises 7....Ne7 even then, and I was surprised to find how often it's since been played.

One nice win for Black was Tylor-Lasker from Nottingham, showcasing Lasker's tremendous endgame skill.

Jul-17-10  SU1989: <mpl> Thanks for providing the line after 24.Rg1. I saw that move and thought it was legit, and didn't understand why Nisipeanu resigned. Of course I didn't consider Ne2+ followed by the capture of the bishop.
