Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-15-10  Marmot PFL: Exciting game. Possibly black missed 29 Bh4 threatens not only to win the queen but also 30 Rxg6+. 31...Rac8 would have prolonged the game.
Aug-15-10  crazybird: <Ljubomir Ljubojevic recovered from his poor start with a win over Wesley So. The young grandmaster from the Philippines had absolutely no complaints after the opening and ambitiously went for more with 15Bxd4, giving White doubled d-pawns. Black was still fine, but he overestimated his position and when he let his queen be sidelined on h3, he should have started looking for ways to save the game. Afterwards he was unhappy about 23a3 and thought that at this point he should have tried to bring back his knight into play with 23N2c4. Now he was forced to sacrifice his queen, but this act of desperation didnt bring any relief and after 32 moves he had to resign.>

Ljubojevic vs W So, 2010 29 Bg5-h4! blocks retreat of Black h3-queen along the h-file

Aug-16-10  freakclub: What a bad game by Wes. First, exchanging his dark-squared bishop (the king's main defender), then went pawn grabbing in the queenside, and then got his queen trapped in the corner while White was mounting a mating attack..

I hope Wes recovers from this game.

Fight Wes!

Aug-17-10  noknik: gud luck nxt game wesley!
Aug-17-10  kurtrichards: <31. ... Nxa2> 31. ... Rac8 would create some counterplay but So's time was getting low and 32. Bxe7 1-0
Oct-09-10  licuan: his only loss in the tournament i believe.
