Sep-25-10  Kaspablanca: This is a weird olimpyiad. Jovabava who beat Carlsen the top rated player in the world (2826)lost to Leon Hoyos(2579.That`s a reason i dont see elo points as the absolute tool to measure a player strenght, today elo rating is very inflated.
Sep-25-10  zoren: ELO is relative to their recent performances. Manuel has been a notable opening specialist even before he was a GM, and tends to underperform.

However he is no slouch, and very accustomed to top flight chess, as his abilities were noted by the top Ukrainian Ivanchuk who hired him as a helper and a "motivator" of sorts.
