Mar-17-13  optimal play: This game was played in the final round of the 1887 Australian Championship and Charlick was leading with 7.0 points from a possible 8

His only threat was Frederick Karl Esling who on 6.0 points could still tie for first place.

Since Charlick only needed to draw this last game to win the Australian title it's no surprise he accepted a draw despite his winning position.

Hookham only had 2.5 points so was completely out of the running.

The final results were:-

Henry Charlick
