Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-09-10  hellopolgar: i guess everyone is paying attention to the kramnik-carlsen game instead...
Oct-09-10  kudubux: Hello!

They loved the win on the other game. My question is why did Anand opted for this opening and not 1...c5?

Oct-09-10  The Rocket: The berlin defence is bulletproof.
Oct-10-10  rangek: <rocket> you mean fire-proof..
Oct-10-10  Whitehat1963: I don't know that I'd call it "bulletproof," "fireproof," or any other kind of proof, but yes, in the hands of a skilled practioner, it's tough to do better than draw. Nevertheless, even the most skilled of practioners stumbles to an inferior opponent in this opening from time to time, as seen here:

Karjakin vs Kramnik, 2004

Oct-10-10  SharpAttack: Berlin wall is not bullet or fireproof..it's actually - Anand's Berlin Wall was fireproof as was Kramnik's in 2000.
Oct-10-10  goldenbear: The Berlin Wall is killing chess! I'm starting a petition to change the rules of chess to make 3.Nf6 an illegal move. Who's with me?
Oct-10-10  goldenbear: Garry, you out there, buddy?
