ketchuplover: Good luck to both combatants!
Dec-07-10  BobCrisp: Looks as if <Kramink> is employing the <someone just let one go> defence.

Marmot PFL: Why this game instead of Anand-Nakamura? The USA #1 vs the world champ. Nothing against Short but his days at the top have passed him by.
Dec-07-10  I play the Fred: White has made a serious strategic error by not moving.

Ulhumbrus: <chessgames.com> How about taking a vote for the first round game, with the first pairing to get five votes winning the vote? In that event I vote for the game Anand - Nakamura.

Kinghunt: I would also vote for Anand-Nakamura, at least as the game to switch to if this one finishes early.
Dec-07-10  rapidcitychess: GO KRAMNIK!!!

ketchuplover: They could also name this tourney "Four Lads from Britain take on the world" or something like that.
Dec-07-10  BobCrisp: On the 30th anniversary of <Lennon>'s murder, it might be better not to tempt fate.

It could be that instant karma's gonna get you. Imagine: 1 e4 c6 2 d4 d5 3 f3 f6 - it's a double fantasy. Reminds me of 1995, when Giuliani's 1 c4 was replaced with Anand's 1 e4: it was just like starting over.

technical draw: I just received the Chessgames winter newsletter. Lucky thing I read it cause I had forgotten all about these games. OK, let's see. Short has white. Kramnik is former world champ with a higher rating. Soooo, quick draw. Kramnik will save a black innovation for Anand.
Dec-07-10  rapidcitychess: Let's see... Old English dude or monster Russian world champ machine?

Check It Out: This could be a Short memorial or a Short classic or a Short draw
Dec-07-10  MaxxLange: Rooting for Nigel here in the Southern backwoods
Dec-07-10  rapidcitychess: <CIO> Or a Short loss for Nigel.

jmboutiere: Nigel is my "partner" on playchess.com, vith a "little" better rating than me but Kramnik is a rock. Go Nigel
