Ulhumbrus: White can gain the bishop pair by g4 and Nxg6 but at the price of exposing his King side somewhat to attack

Marmot PFL: This is similar to a draw between malakhov and karjakin, but with Nh4 instead of Nc3, though Nh4 was played a couple moves later.

Unlikely he would do that until the Black king has committed to castling kingside.

e4ia: I'll bet at least 75% of us here would much rather be viewing the Carlsen-Nakamura game in terms of "compelling interest"... a struggling Magnus now desperate to rescue his name/game vs the hot Nakamura, in no doubt a real fire fight, vs this dogpound game/pairing!

Must we always have an Englishman or the leader in every game?

What a ridiculous choice today!

Wyatt Gwyon: Carlsen Nakamura would be fun to watch, but McShane's been compelling, so I'm cool with watching this too.

I support the way CG does it 100%

Ulhumbrus: Adams could play his Q to e7 after 12...Re8, but he has the alternative of ...Re6 as well.

e4ia: Well, <Domdaniel>, you're outnumbered by at least 2-1 but those who have had the courage to give feedback here re game choice! Premium members deserve a premium game imo

so <chessgames>, what IS your criteria re game choice?!

<queenfortwopawns: Who decides the choice of games here? No disrespect to Micky or Luke, but Nos. 1,2,3 are playing and its just wrong we can't see any of those.>

  Domdaniel: <e41a> --- <Well, <Domdaniel>, you're outnumbered by at least 2-1...> That's nice. I'm usually outnumbered by about 100-1.

benveniste: That 2-1 margin comes from an "interesting" sample size. Personally, I'm not a fan of "all Magnus, all the time" camp.

Two cents...

Although, every so often (a 'blue moon' comes to mind) Cee-Gee has allowed us to vote for which "LIVE game" we would like to see being broadcast here on the next day. I've always appreciated that allowance and I also support following the tourney leader with a little leeway as CG.com has allowed us occasionally. :)

pawn to QB4: hope I'm not too late to register a vote and make it 1.9 to 1 or whatever. First saw McShane when he was about seven...now he's leading the tournament ahead of three of the world's best - great to see his moment in the spotlight, we can play over the others' games any time later. Of course I wondered for a moment if the tournament would be the British players bringing up the rear, but like last year they're doing great, glad chessgames is indulging us.

Sorry, I woke up late, but I'm here now.

Domdaniel: If Adams wins this and the other games are drawn -- or even if Carlsen, Short or Howell win -- then Adams and McShane will be joint leaders tomorrow.

Should be some interesting opinions expressed then...

Marmot PFL: Howell also is holding on in some tough positions. He will need to do that again today.

chessgames.com: <<chessgames>, what IS your criteria re game choice?!> It's very simple: we look at the leaderboard, see who has the most points, and show their game. (When there is a tie for first place there is a fairly complex tiebreaking protocol which we won't get into now.)

Although it may not seem like it by reading today's posts, this policy reduces the inevitable complaining to a minimum.

Having said that, we do want to please our audience, so from time to time we overrule our own criteria and conduct a "straw poll" vote and show whatever game members would like to see. However we don't do the straw poll automatically every single time that Carlsen or Anand isn't in the lead. That approach would be akin to saying we'll never show a McShane game, even if he's having the tournament of his life.

  e4ia: Now that's hysterical "Dom"!!

<Domdaniel: <e41a> --- <Well, <Domdaniel>, you're outnumbered by at least 2-1...> That's nice. I'm usually outnumbered by about 100-1.>

me too! Well, I gave my 2 cents, and who knows perhaps this game will be the most interesting of all!

(But 'll never know until post round analysis, when I look at this game)

Have a great day here all!

Yes, Cee-Gee in my <Two cents...> post I made that exact point quite clear using the analogy:

"Although, every so often <(a 'blue moon' comes to mind)> Cee-Gee has allowed us to vote for which "LIVE game" we would like to see being broadcast here on the next day. I've always appreciated that allowance and I also support following the tourney leader with a little leeway as CG.com has allowed us occasionally. :)

And, I "thank you" once again for that! :)
