Jan-23-11
 | | twinlark: Deffi - feed seems ok. Carlsen's using a lot of time, which is never a good sign for him... |
Jan-23-11
 | | Open Defence: yo Larkers!! staying up late for this one I see @@ |
Jan-23-11
 | | talisman: long think by Magnus, makes me think he might not start this attack with x |
Jan-23-11
 | | twinlark: just this once, it's nearly 3am here |
| Jan-23-11 | | Penguincw: < Ulhumbrus > Thanks for the info. |
Jan-23-11
 | | tamar: Perhaps Carlsen doesn't see how to defend g6 longterm in case of 26 Nxe6 Rxe6 and ...Ne5 26 Qf4 is a good alternative which does not give away the advantage. |
Jan-23-11
 | | twinlark: 26. Rfd1...figures. |
Jan-23-11
 | | Domdaniel: <What did ...Qa5 do>
It threatened to win. If White makes a 'passing' move - say something like 26.Rh2? - then 26...Nxb2 wins by force. All the more reason for Carlsen to snap off the Bishop on e6. |
Jan-23-11
 | | twinlark: Magnus still has a lot of pressure, some of which is self imposed from the looks of it. |
Jan-23-11
 | | virginmind: id say its the most indicated timing for magnus to give it a long thought to check all variants in order not to fail in this attack |
| Jan-23-11 | | whiskeyrebel: A great game, of historic magnitude. |
Jan-23-11
 | | twinlark: 26...Ne5. Now Magnus really has to take that godforsaken bishop. |
Jan-23-11
 | | talisman: <Dom> thanks...what now for black? something on e5?..maybe ?...this just is not looking good. |
Jan-23-11
 | | Marmot PFL: Ne5 covers f7 and g6 and looks like the best chance. Usually in the Sicilian black is lost if he is only defending though, unless he has material edge. |
| Jan-23-11 | | Hoozits: Fritz thinks Ne5 was an error with a hit on h6 by white's rook. Need to take a closer look at this. |
| Jan-23-11 | | BobCrisp: +2.8 for White. Carlsen wont see it, though. |
Jan-23-11
 | | Domdaniel: Sadly, ...Nxb2 didn't work after 26.Rdf1.
26...Nxb2 27.Nxe6 (or 27.Rxf8+!?) Qxc3 28.Qxc3 and White emerges with an extra piece.The difference after 26.Rh2? is that Black has ...Nxd1 after Nxe6. |
Jan-23-11
 | | Eyal: <Fritz thinks Ne5 was an error with a hit on h6 by white's rook.> Yeah, but that's really a computer-like tactics: 27. Nxe6 Rxe6 28. Rxh6! gxh6 29. Qh3 Rce8 30. Rxf8+! Kxf8 31. Qxh6+ Ke7 32. b4! winning the black queen with a knight fork on d5 wherever it goes (except for 32...Qd8 33. Qg7+ and mate. |
Jan-23-11
 | | Marmot PFL: Bxd5 looks totally forced, but I'm surprised white allowed it. |
Jan-23-11
 | | woodthrush: 27..Nxb2 28 Kxb2 Rxc3 invokes mate threat on a2 which can be stopped by white's Nxe6. If black could find a way to preserve the B, mate threats would be on. |
Jan-23-11
 | | virginmind: nah..just take the bishop on e6 and everything will go on smoothly - Rxh6 etc |
| Jan-23-11 | | Kazzak: Nakamura falling victim to his desire to be different today. h6 earlier would have solved a lot of problems. |
Jan-23-11
 | | Domdaniel: I still can't see why Carlsen didn't take on e6. If Black plays ...Bxd5 he reaches a similar B-for-N exchange with a better position than the Nxe6 lines. |
Jan-23-11
 | | twinlark: Perverse Magnus. He squeezes Naka to remove his own bishop. |
Jan-23-11
 | | virginmind: jesus...why didnt carlsen follow that line with Nxe6 and then Rxh?? |
