 | | SatelliteDan: Go for it Naka! |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | SatelliteDan: Kramnik like great unpenatable wall. Naka needs a jack hammer opening. |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | SatelliteDan: Opening predictions please.. |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | SatelliteDan: (Kramnik-Carlsen) hell of a game yesterday BTW. |

 |
Jan-29-11
 | | SatelliteDan: <Bobwhoosta: This is going to be a good game. Kramnik's style is normally the style I would pick over Naka, but Naka has grown in positional awareness/strength, as well as endgame knowledge lately.>
Agree |

Jan-29-11
 | | kellmano: I think we will see a pragmatic Nakamura today.
Prediction: 1.d4, drawn in 18 |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | SatelliteDan: <I'll bet on if Naka plays e4, Kramnik will play the Sicilian because he needs to win given what happened against Magnus. None of his Petrov dullness stuff!>
And the tone will be set if Naka doesn't hesitate with Nf3 if Kramnik does play c5. |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | rogge: I'd like Kramnik to pretend he's playing against Shirov :) |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | Shams: Does anyone know the breakdown of prize money? |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | botvinnik64: Maybe Naka will play 1. F4 and we will get fireworks? |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | Shams: <SatelliteDan><And the tone will be set if Naka doesn't hesitate with Nf3 if Kramnik does play c5.> As opposed to what, the Alapin? Of course he'll play Nf3. But I doubt Kramnik will essay 1...c5. |

Jan-29-11
 | | dakgootje: For once I am supporting Naka to win. No, this has absolutely nothing to do with the chessbookie-game or corresponding terrific odds for Naka to win. It just so happens that I'd like to see Nakamura win a game after his terrible performance this tournament. Yes, that's it. |

Jan-29-11
 | | Shams: Are we to conclude, after his somewhat narrow escape with the Russian Defense against Nakamura at Bilbao, that Kramnik didn't find an improvement he liked well enough? Spanish is a surprise. |

Jan-29-11
 | | Marmot PFL: This one could be drawn in the not too distant future. |

Jan-29-11
 | | Eyal: This is arguably one of the most drawish lines chess has to offer, as Kramnik found out 2 rounds ago when Smeets played it against him as White: J Smeets vs Kramnik, 2011. |
 |
Jan-29-11
 | | Shams: Ian Rogers with a spot of trivia for the round: "Since Wang Hao scored an upset win over Magnus Carlsen in the World U/14 Championship in 2003, the paths of these two players have diverged and they have never subsequently met in a tournament game." |

 |
Jan-29-11
 | | Eyal: <Are we to conclude, after his somewhat narrow escape with the Russian Defense against Nakamura at Bilbao, that Kramnik didn't find an improvement he liked well enough? Spanish is a surprise.> Not at all. After the recent Tal Memorial (Nakamura didn't play at Bilbao), Kramnik dumped the Petrov - at least in tournaments - and has been consistently playing 2...Nc6 both in London and here. |
 |
| Jan-29-11 | | Kazzak: Aronian is pressing hard, and looks confident. He wants the point. |
