Jun-06-11  vvv: Surely this isn't the same George Alan Thomas who defeated Capablanca in 1934? Or did he come back from the dead?

perfidious: <vvv> He must have gone away for three days, because I remember the article on his death in one of the very first Chess Life & Reviews I got after joining USCF in late 1972.

Black's play even before his blunder in this game was poor, as 4....Bd7 has long been known to be stronger than the text or the immediate 4....Bg6.

FSR: Well played for a guy who'd been dead for 23 years. I played Jerry Falwell (also dead) a few months ago on the Internet, but he was much weaker than Sir George.

mjmorri: I wonder what his email address was?

I've played Steinitz, Lasker, and Capablanca by contacting them at this web address.
