Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-07-11  Whitehat1963: Currently the hardest Guess-the-Move game in the database, but only 3 plays. Give it your best shot.
Apr-09-11  Whitehat1963: Still the hardest Guess-the-Move game, but only 6 plays. Big shake ups in the list of 40 hardest games in the G-T-M database. A lot of short games have crept to the top, but they aren't necessarily more difficult than many of the others.
Apr-09-11  noah913: I got 6 on guess the move. I'm really surprised that black had a trapped knight so early in the game.
Apr-09-11  ughaibu: What's the most points possible?
Apr-10-11  Whitehat1963: Six. Only the last two moves score in this one, which pretty much guarantees it a place among the hardest 40 for eternity.
Apr-11-11  ughaibu: Thanks. Where's the list?
Apr-11-11  Whitehat1963: It's on the Guess-the-Move page's "special functions" section. For the moment, here's the top 20 hardest:

1. Maroczy v. M. Morgan, 1906 (recent entry, still only 9 plays)

2. Tarrash V. Gunsberg, 1890 (been on here for quite a while, lots of plays)

3. Siciliaans v. A. M. Giustolisi, 1955 (a recent entry, few plays)

4. Keres v. A Fuderer, 1955 (recent entry)

Apr-11-11  ughaibu: Thanks. I guess that page is only viewable by premmies.
Apr-11-11  Whitehat1963: Yup. I got lucky with a <chessgames.com> Christmas gift. Not sure what I did to get so lucky, but I have put about 3,000 games into the Guess-the-Move database over the years. That's over a third of the games.
May-15-11  kevins55555: <noah913>

Same. It's the most you can get.

Dec-02-11  Penguincw: Pretty simple yet difficult.
