  HeMateMe: I guess it was a miscalculation, Anand giving up the Rook for Bishop? he didn't have quite enough to get the full point.

  juan31: Gran defensa de Nakamura
Mar-19-11  fab4: I glanced at this ending and thought Naka was dead.. Surely Vishy blew it.

Nakamura is a fighter .

Mar-20-11  Ulhumbrus: If Black's Rook on g2 is going to persist in trying to check White's King from the rear, an alternative to 37 Rg6 is 37 Kf5 so as to get the White King on to a higher rank: 37...Rf2+ 38 Ke6 Rg2 39 Bf5
Mar-20-11  vanytchouck: < HeMateMe: I guess it was a miscalculation, Anand giving up the Rook for Bishop? he didn't have quite enough to get the full point. >

Miscalculation ??

From a position where blacks may be slightly better (structure of the pawns, activity of the rooks)Anand gave a Rook for :

* a bishop;
* 2 pawns;
* the assurance of the termination of ALL black pawns;

So Vishy has just secured a position where he was the only one who can really play for the win.

Mar-20-11  vanytchouck: by the way, after 52. Kxf5, it's a tablebase draw with the moves Rf1, Kd7 or Ke7.
Nov-14-11  bk892: 16Nb5! Nxe5 17Qxe5Bxb5 18Rxb5 Qxf2+ 19Be2...Black is totally lost
Nov-14-11  TheMacMan: <bk892>
19... (after 19. Be2) Qf5 it is actually black who is better, with your analysis, anand didnt miss novelty on move 16.
Nov-14-11  TheMacMan: well nevermind after looking at it again i think <bk892> is right :D
