HeMateMe: Seemed like Naka had some pull near the end, with the exposed black king there. I don't know why he traded Queens. Maybe there was really nothing there in the attack. Or, maybe he thought his chances in the endgame were better than they really were.
Mar-23-11  puzzlepatzer: the queen trade was forced. it's pinned to the king.

Penguincw: Another game right down to bare kings.
Mar-24-11  shalgo: Karjakin's 44...Rd2!? was clever, but there was actually a better execution of the idea that would have won!

In trying too hard to win a drawn position, Nakamura had overpressed and got his pieces out of position on the kingside.

As a result, the amazing 44...Rd3! would have been winning.

The point is to cover b3 so that White can't recapture with his king after 45...b3.

If 45.Kxd3 b3! queens a pawn. White's rook and knight are also out of position to stop 45...b3 after other moves.

Karjakin's 44...Rd2+ has the same idea, but Nakamura doesn't have to take the rook and can instead play 45.Kb3, preventing the ...b3 idea.
