Domdaniel: Structurally, this turns into something like an Exchange French - open e-file, opposing pawns on d4/d5, notoriously drawish.

  Ulhumbrus: On 28...Kf7 29 Qxh7?? Rh8 traps White's Queen.
May-24-11  AdrianP: OK with Qs staying on, maybe White still has something.

tamar: 28...Qc8 is worth a try. Grischuk might grab h7, and after 29...Kf7 the queen is trapped.
May-24-11  HolyKnight: All but one of white's pawns are on a black square. If more pieces get exchanged off that bishop might go yum yum.

Domdaniel: 28...Qc8 is playable due to the trap Ulhumbrus mentioned: the h7 pawn is safe.
May-24-11  AdrianP: Gelfand should certainly play on here. Grischuk will be in a mental mess, having spunked his best chance so far. Give him something to sweat about today, let him stew and fret overnight and set yourself up nicely for the white pieces tomorrow.
May-24-11  Knight13: <AdrianP> You'd think Grischuk would expect Gelfand to do exactly just that...

moronovich: Due to the bishop I will rate Gelfands chances as a slightly better.

tamar: Now we could have duelling Grischuk guns versus Gelfand guns...

May-24-11  libertyjack: Strangely enough I like white here. Nd1 to c3 looks attractive to me while black has no clear way to activate his pieces.
May-24-11  BobCrisp: Why did <Grischuk> play that Na4-c2 @#$% manoeuvre?
May-24-11  Chesschatology: A draw seems overwhelmingly likely between two players of this calibre.

lost in space: Black was able to play e5 and I know now why he is GM and not me.

So far a nice and good game. I agree with <Dom> that the current position is very drawish. White has a small edge (I guess) due to his space advantage on the queenside. But this should not be enough.

May-24-11  AdrianP: <lostinspace> <I know now why he is GM and not me> Surely you must have suspected the reason before ... ;-)

Ulhumbrus: I am off for now. My present guess is that Black has the better of it. What is White going to do with his Knights?

Domdaniel: Black's Bishop is actually pretty bad, given White's dark square pawns. But it's still very drawish.
May-24-11  Knight13: <Ulhumbrus: I am off for now. My present guess is that Black has the better of it. What is White going to do with his Knights?> Ride them through the woods and falls.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

lost in space: hmmm, could white try to play b5-b6 and afterwards to Ra1-a7 with pressure on b7

To avoid this Black needs to play cxb5 and Rxb5 with pressure on b7. Maybe not that drawish as I expected?!
