 | | YouRang: Finally drawn.
Lesson: Having a won position is only as good as your ability to see it through. |

 | | cro777: (Reposted) White missed a win. Instead of 113.Ke2 he shoud have played <113.h5> |
 |
Jul-25-11
 | | hms123: <Gypsy> I made a typo--it should be <114.Bh4+> as shown in the diagram. |

 | | scormus: <No, my name is Gordon>
Only joking, with a certain uncertainty ;) |
 |
| Jul-25-11 | | DrMAL: thanx. IDK, the position kept changing when i got back to the game. it had first looked at 111 but i think it was 113 and then when i typed it, it was a few moves after that. anyways, its really odd Meier missed that he must be really exhausted |

 | | M.Hassan: What a game. Draw at last |
 |
Jul-25-11
 | | karnak64: Well, they've taken it out to a draw by rule. How often does that happen at this level? |
 |
Jul-25-11
 | | scormus: what can I say? people are posting all over the forum, they think its all over .... it is now |
 |
Jul-25-11

| Jul-25-11 | | DrMAL: Very happy H-bomb managed a draw, he has certainly sustained enough self-punishment |
 |
| Jul-25-11 | | TheBB: <Gypsy> <113.h5 Kg7 114.Bb4 Nf7 115... Kh6 ... seems to be OK.> What about 114. Kg2? |

 | | Shams: Meier probably has a better appreciation now of what Kasparov said years ago: it's hard to win against the top ten players, even when you're winning. |
 |
Jul-26-11
 | | al wazir: If Nakamura had been playing for a draw he could have traded s with 64...Qxf2 and gotten the same blocked position that they reached in the game on move 102. He must have seen that. (I did.) But he didn't play it, so apparently he wasn't playing for a draw. He was trying to *win*.But objectively speaking, he had no winning chances. He was a down. The only way he could have won is if Meier had made a mistake. So he must have been hoping for a blunder on Meier's part. That sort of strategy is okay in speed chess, but in tournament chess at the GM level it's rather insulting. |

Jul-26-11
 | | lost in space: finally a draw in this marathon. Meier ess not able to win even though the position was won and that there were a lot of winnings moves during the session. The missed them all. Reminds me perfectly on my way to play chess |
