Yeah but we still have bullets. ;)

Dec-06-11  master of defence: I want see here Magnus Carlsen vs The World!
Dec-06-11  Nightranger: I think GMVA was giving us the option of offering a draw or playing to the repetition.

32.. Nxf3+ w/o/d/o

Dec-06-11  bigchris: voted 32...Nxf3+ with no draw offer. i think throwing in the rook would make the title "Drawma Queen" more fitting.

AylerKupp: This is how I feel about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIVf...

And for us old folks, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvD0..., starting at 0:50.

And for those of you younger folks, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqUW...

But now that the first event has happened, I voted 32...Nxf3+ with a draw offer. Even I can't be a knucklehead forever.

AylerKupp: <<YouRang> I guess this may as well be the first game (I think) in which the World has made the draw offer.>

How quickly your forget! The World made a draw offer after 62.Kxf2 in The World vs N Pogonina, 2010.

They say that as one gets older that memory is the second thing that goes. And I can't remember the first.

You are unfortunately one move too late. At this point 32...Nxf3+ 33.Kf1 Rxe1+ 34.Rxe1 results in just an <exchange> or rooks, not throwing in the rook. The time to throw in the rook was a move earlier, 32...Re8. Then we truly would have been a queen down (now we're only down Q vs. N+P down and then "Drawma Queen" would have fit perfectly.

So, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meCp...?

Many clips of this to choose from but I have a soft spot (actually, more than one) for over the hill rock singers.

  AylerKupp: <<zsoydd:> voted: 32...Rd7 -- why not visible?>

Probably because no one is voting for it, or at least not more than one voter. ;-) And the reason that no one is voting for it is that if 32...Rd7 then 33.Qa8 stops ...Nxf3+ and the draw by repetition, leaving us with only N+P against Q, a sure loss.

Dec-06-11  ajile: There is something very wrong here. I can no longer vote ..Qxg2#.

Pedro Fernandez: A draw in 32. But by one side GM Akobian played 21. Bxf6 from which emerged a natural sequence of moves to simplify the position, and secondly we decided to play 29...Qxh3 which practically sealed the fate of the game. Anyway, our team took good decisions and it played very well.
Dec-06-11  Penguincw: I guess it's time for a draw.

AylerKupp: I think that we have exhausted the algebraic notation possibilities for 32...Nxf3+. I tried to enter 32...NxP+ as sort of a tribute to us older players but it was recognized as not being algebraic notation and rejected.

It did, however, accept 32...Nexf3+ as a valid move so that opens up at least 4 more move vote possibilities, with 32...N5xf3+ and Ne5xf3+ still unexplored. So go forth and multiply ...

AylerKupp: <bigchris> I obviously meant 31...Re8 and not 32...Re8. Sorry. But a rejected move is a rejected move, regardless of its move number :-(
Dec-06-11  DPLeo: Voted: 32...Nxf3+ no draw offer.

The point goes to you, good sir.

In my defense, I'll point out that I had *deliberately* tried to forget the Pogo game, and had even succeeded, ...until now.

I agree with GM van Dizl:

Such an early draw brings shame to the game.

We have made three mistakes.
- First: we took the job.
- Second: we came light
- But the worst mistake: empty gun rack.>

Okay, but why those reasons are sufficient for we lost the game. Nooo way!

Pedro Fernandez: I suspect that all of our guys who are voting for no offer draw, it is because we did the Queen sac, so we deserve the worth. A good reason which I neither agree nor disagree, but I think if wins the no offer draw it will leave a bitter taste in our dear GM.
