Sep-05-11  Whitehat1963: What happens if 37. Bb2?

  tamar: On 37 Bb2 Svidler said he would play 37...Rxe3+ 38 Kf2 Rf3+ 39 Kg1 a3

He stopped by the commentary desk to offer the story of how he happened to play a Catalan. He was considering his 2nd move and saw that his hand was already on the e pawn, and that he was obligated to move it.

  perfidious: <sambo: Why not 36 Bxa4?>

Not that it appears to lead to much more than equality after 36....Ra8 37.Bxd7+ Kxd7 38.Bb4, but why indeed?

Time shortage would most likely account for this, along with his last move.
