  Domdaniel: And 61.Rf1+
Sep-06-11  paavoh: Looks to be over according to the live game commentators, too bad, as Nielsen's exchange sac was very inspired.
Sep-06-11  swr: Must be a draw

Administrator: Thanks to everyone for being here today. We will resume coverage of the Polgar-Dominguez match, tomorrow at 5:am USA/EASTERN time. Hope to see you then.
Sep-06-11  Ulhumbrus: It seems that White cracked the Berlin wall by advancing his King side pawn majority. The advance 24 f5 induces the exchange sacrifice 24...Rxd4+

  whiteshark: What's wrong with <24...Bxf5+ 25.Nxf5+ gxf5+ 26.Kxf5 Rxd2 27.Rxd2 Rg8> ?

LucB: Is this "Peter Nielsen" not incorrectly classified?

Should it not be "P H Nielsen"??

Sep-06-11  Ulhumbrus: <whiteshark: What's wrong with <24...Bxf5+ 25.Nxf5+ gxf5+ 26.Kxf5 Rxd2 27.Rxd2 Rg8> ?> It leaves White a pawn ahead on the King aide and Black has no longer either a powerful Bishop for a Knight or a Queen side attack to compensate for it. One way to answer the potential threat of 28...Rg5+ is 28 Rf2 eg 28 Rf2 Rg5+ 29 Ke4 Ke6 30 Rf6+ whereupon Black's King on e6 is compelled to abandon his second attack upon the e5 pawn.

Calli: I thought Nielsen took with the wrong pawn. 30.b4 cxb4+ 31.axb4 Ra8 looks much better to me.

If the error persists, send them a correction slip -- but perhaps you should wait a day or two first.

There *is* a Peter Nielsen - there are a lot of chess-playing Nielsens in Denmark. I'm not sure if the dozen or so games attributed to him are all correct, though.

LucB: Ok, thanks for the info <Domdaniel>..

Is there a link for the correction slips? Sorry, I'm being lazy here and not even looking on the home page..

Domdaniel: <LucB> Yeah, there's one on every game. Below the kibitz box, where it says "Please submit a correction slip if ..."
