Carlsen vs Ivanchuk, 2011 19 Bh7-g6! leads to the trapping of the Black h5-queen

Phony Benoni: OK, I'm not getting the pun. Does it refer to the novelty <10.Bh3!> mentioned above by <Domdaniel>?
Jan-18-12  SimonWebbsTiger: @<Phoney Benoni>

Carlsen, Liv Tyler and G-Star Raw?

Jan-18-12  Oxnard: If 17. Nxd7 then 18. Bxh7+ Kh8 19. Bg6 Qg4 20. h3! and the queen is trapped...

Jan-18-12  newzild: Stupid title.

Awesome game.

Jan-18-12  KingV93: The tactics here are too deep for me to understand well...and Ivanchuck is no chess slob. Amazing.
Jan-18-12  goodevans: This excellent game lends further weight to the theory that there is an inversely proportional relationship between the quality of the GOTD puns and their respective games.
Jan-18-12  Penguincw: < Phony Benoni: OK, I'm not getting the pun. >

Same.

< SimonWebbsTiger: ...

Carlsen, Liv Tyler and G-Star Raw? >

Oh. Thanks. :)

tpstar: Carlsen's bio must be updated to say he is a top model.

The first choice was "A Model Attack" but that's boring. Then "The Carlsen Boundless Adulation Forum" which would have been a private joke with another user who was also attacked and bullied there. Third was "The Devil's In My Carlsen" except it is somewhat obscure, so the winning choice is a TV show but also a subtle reference to how certain Carlsen fans feel about Americans, based on their posting history.

Go Carlsen.

kevin86: I liked the zigzagging of the white queen.
Jan-18-12  erniecohen: Blakc's problems stem from the fall of f5. He can prevent this either by playing Be4 before White plays d5, or by playing Qh5 prior to exchanging on d5. Either of these gives Black a satisfactory game.

I suppose it is hard to understand unless you have extensive knowledge about certain pages on this site, but user <tpstar> (who compiled this game collection and came up with the title) is kind enough to elaborate: <the winning choice is a TV show but also a subtle reference to how certain Carlsen fans feel about Americans.>

Most people won´t understand what that is supposed to mean, so let me explain it to you: The thing is that user <tpstar> has this idea that "Carlsen fans" think Americans are stupid, and he will miss no opportunity to talk about that idea. Hence, user <tpstar> thinks that the Game Of The Day and the Best Games of 2012 are suitable opportunities to let everyone know about this intriguing idea of his, and at the same time to make "subtle" attacks one of his favourite foes here on chessgames.com.

Jan-18-12  Oxnard: Nothing wrong with Americans, old sport, but Nakamura fans are bonkers.

Go Nakamura.

Jan-18-12  voyager39: Its dificult to relate to the Title despite the explainations. The game is great though.

rogge: Yes. I understand he visits Seattle regularly. <Carlsen fans>, I mean.
Jan-18-12  ajile: I would endorse this pun if chessgames would use my Carlsen animated dancing rook.

You know, it's the one where he's doing his "model" image.
