Dec-29-11  newzild: I don't see why this blitz game should be GOTD, especially since there are so many blunders towards the end.

I suspect that once again chessgames.com has simply gone for a pun, rather than given any thought to the merits of the game. Annoying to spend five minutes clicking through a skittles game, expecting to find some brilliant finale that doesn't exist.

Dec-29-11  erniecohen: <newzild> Agreed, especially since white could have ended it with 22. Qxd8+ Rxd8 23. Rxd8+ Ka7 24. Rg8. It's not as if Socko doesn't have some decent wins they could have used instead.
Dec-29-11  Uvulu: <erniecohen> In your line, how would you deal with 24... Qg4?
Dec-29-11  Penguincw: Geez just one check in this game.

kevin86: Did Black resign too soon? After all,he's only four pawns and the exchange down.
Dec-29-11  erniecohen: <<Uvulu> In your line, how would you deal with 24... Qg4?> 25. Kf1 Qxh4 26. Rxg7 Ng4 27. Nd5 Nxd5 28. exd5 Nxe3 29. fxe3 Qxg5 30. Rxf7 1-0

Chessmensch: < newzild > seems to have it right. There is little of merit in this game.

Are you getting my drift?

I propose an additional overall category:

Most Valuable Poster - diceman.

Domdaniel: <Alpha> You're welcome to your opinions. There might be technical issues with the 3rd category listed, as User: diceman does not seem to have any game collections.
Dec-29-11  AlphaMale: Well, that only goes to show how high his standards are. Who was it, when asked about his best game, rejoined that he hadn't yet played it. That's the spirit I like. However good diceman is, he can get better, he will get better!
