 | | Sokrates: <Strongest Force: Aside from a curious breakdown agaist Magnus, Aronian is playing way-ahead of the others.> I agree. He seems to think deeper and ahead of his opponents. There is something sneaky about his style. At first his opponents seem to have a good play, but then he slowly dismantle their positions. Reminds a bit of Smyslov - only when it was too late, his opponents sensed something was wrong. |

 | | hoodrobin: <Bxb3> Now it's OCB (=)! |
| Jan-21-12 | | MindCtrol9: black is in better position right now,that's what i see |

 | | hoodrobin: He's solid and has time on his clock... |
Jan-21-12
 | | Sokrates: Sometimes you wonder, what the players are using their time for. Bxb3 was a possibility, Ivanchuk had to calculate with every move, and now he seems in doubt whether to play axb3 or Qxb3. |
Jan-21-12
 | | hoodrobin: I'm in doubt too! :) |
Jan-21-12
 | | Sokrates: Well axb3 19. Bxc5 followed by Qb6 can't be good for white, so .... But now Vassily uses so much time, which might be better spent later. |

 | | WannaBe: So typical of Chucky, burning his clock on the first 20 moves. |

 | | hoodrobin: <WannaBe> It is positional, sort of. |

 | | Ulhumbrus: White has a persistent potential threat of a4, turning Black's Queen side into a target |
Jan-21-12
 | | Ulhumbrus: I am off for now. It will be interesting to see whether Ivanchuk begins a queen side attack by means of the pawn advance a4. |
| Jan-21-12 | | MindCtrol9: looks now more like a draw. |
Jan-21-12
 | | Strongest Force: I guess its not too early to predict a draw is it? |
Jan-21-12
 | | Sokrates: No, I'd say, both of them would have to make serious mistakes to tip the balance now, so drawn in a minute, I assume. |
| Jan-21-12 | | MindCtrol9: if i am not mistaken,this must be a draw. |
Jan-21-12
 | | WannaBe: Equal pawns, check. Minor pieces, check. Bishops of opposite colours, check. It's a draw. =) |
| Jan-21-12 | | MindCtrol9: there is not possibility to force a win.black must move his king to try the queen side, and white does the same on his side.this is just a try,but it's a draw.two great players are not going to make unbeliavable mistakes here.the bishops differente colours:bishop and knight vs bishop and knight.what can we expect but a draw. |
Jan-21-12
 | | Sokrates: <WannaBe: Equal pawns, check. Minor pieces, check. Bishops of opposite colours, check. It's a draw. =)> Yes, but why do they keep on playing? Has any of them offered a draw? Either there is a power play going on, or one of them actually thinks, he has chances. As for the latter 28.b4 shows me that Ivanchuk hopes to grab pawns a6 and b5 with his bishop, so maybe he is the one who plays for a win. A personal powerplay between those two is hard to imagine. I think Ivanchuk cannot be reached in that sense. :-) |

| Jan-21-12 | | MindCtrol9: had all the sense in the world !!! |
