Feb-08-12  nanobrain: <Iskubadayb: I don't know about 29... Nh5. It allowed the d5 push which is very strong. It also gave legitimacy to the Rook pile up in the b-file. 29... Rd8 is more prudent.>

The B controlling the b8-h2 diagonal was too annoying for me. I wanted to eliminate it. I had long been itching to play ...Nh5 but I couldn't because of d5 trapping my Rook. But now, I could play ...exd5 and my rook has a escape route already so I went for 29...Nh5.

Feb-08-12  nanobrain: <I also don't like the black king at e7. He's probably safer at g7.>

I played 26...Ke7 to prevent his B landing at d6 with a check. He was threatening 27.dxc5. I can't capture with my b6 pawn or my N because in either move, I will lose a pawn. I must capture with my R but then I have to prevent Bd6+.

Feb-08-12  nanobrain: <Iskubadayb: 32. Ne4? that's the big mistake! Nc4 was his square, preventing Ne5 and targeting the weak b6 pawn.>

I was contemplating on 32.Nc4 Nxg3, 33.fxg3 Rf2, 34.Rb2 Rxb2, 35.Rxb2 f6. I don't know who is better but at least he again has doubled pawns.

Feb-08-12  nanobrain: <Iskubadayb: Ouch! What was he thinking with 37. Reb1. There was no propects there. Perhaps he was planning on a sac exhange. It is obvious that he completely miss the sac at f3 or he would've played the only move which is Rbb1.>

I agree. But I think he removed his R from the e-file because if I play ...f5 he can answer with Nd6 without losing his R at e1.

37.Rbb1 is problematic. I was thinking of lines like 37...Ne5+, 38.Kc3 g4, 39.hxg4 Nxg4, etc. After 36...Re8 kasi, I felt I was much better already and could go for a win.

Feb-08-12  nanobrain: <fokers13: Isku is right about 20..Qxb5 methinks. If cxb5 then Nd5 and if 22.Ne4 which seems to be the only way to hold the c3 pawn cxd4 cxd4 and Rc4! winning a pawn no matter what.21.axb5 is better ofc but his positional weaknesses remain in that case.>

Indeed, you are both correct.

Feb-08-12  nanobrain: And now, since I do not know what to do with the scoresheet, here's the game I played (also a 22-board simul) simultaneous with this game with GM Torre--

Wesley So vs. Me--

1.d4 Nf6; 2.c4 g6; 3.Nc3 d5; 4.Bg5 c6; 5.Bxf6 exf6; 6.cxd5 cxd5; 7.e3 Bg7; 8.Qb3 0-0; 9.Qxd5 Qb6; 10.Qb5 Qd6; 11.Nf3 Nc6; 12.Be2 Bd7; 13.Qb3 a6; 14.0-0 f5; 15.g3 Rab8; 16.Qb6 Qe7; 17.Rac1 Rfc8; 18.Rfe1 h6; 19.Bf1 g5; 20.Bg2 Rd8; 21.a3 Be6; 22.Na4 Rd6; 23.Qc5 Qd8; 24.Qc2 Bf6; 25.Nd2 Kg7; 26.Nc5 Bd5; 27.Qxf5 Bxg2; 28.Kxg2 Ne7; 29.Qf3 Rb6; 30.b4 Qd5; 31.Nde4 Rd8; 32.Nxf6 Qxf3+; 33.Kxf3 Rxf6+; 34.Kg2 b5; 35.Red1 Nf5; 36.Nb3 Nd6; 37.Na5 Rd7; 38.Rc6 Ne4; 39.Rxf6 Kxf6; 40.Rc1 Rd6; 41.Nb7 Rb6; 42.Rc7 Nd6; 43.Nxd6 Rxd6; 44.Kf3 Ke6; 45.g4 Kf6; 46.Ke5 Ke6; 47.Rc5 Ke7; 48.d5 Kd7; 49.Ke5 Rg6; 50.e4 Rb6. 1-0

Feb-08-12  bubuli55: <Feb-08-12    nanobrain: I think if 42.Rb7 Rxa4, 43.Rh7 Rb4 black has too many pawns. >

thx < nanobrain > there is just something that intrigues me with Rb7 :) Salamat Atty

Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Ah, dito pala ang game mo kay bata. Let me take a quick look.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: I really don't play Gruenfeld but I know that 4... Ne4 is the mainline here.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: I took a quick look at cg database and it seems your 7... Bg7 is a TN in cg. Two games played Nc6 and one game Be6. They all lost but I think they just misplayed the position. In any case, white has a clear advantage in this opening especially after your Bg7.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: I like how you keep avoiding the queen exchange. It's so funny.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: 15... Rab8 was unnecessary. You should have pushed on with b5! Now, he gets to block it with Qb6.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Nagpapahinog lang si bata. Tiradingding simul.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Pag Bf1 ni bata mukhang may talon ka na sa Nb4-d3 ha instead of Rd8.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Hahahaha, nahalatings ni bata kaya biglang nag a3.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Wow, bradidik pag 23. Qc5 niya ay meron ka uling b5 push! Malakas yun ha. Pag atras ng yokabs e Rc8!! Lamang ka pa dito sa pwesto! I think.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Hansama ng reyna niya sa c5 o.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Wow, nahalatings din ulit ni bata kaya sabay balikbayan ang reyna nya.
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: After Qxf5, he already saw this movie many times. :)
Feb-08-12  Iskubadayb: Yup, the rest was easy. You let an opportunity get away there, it seems. :(
Feb-10-12  nanobrain: <Iskubadayb: 15... Rab8 was unnecessary. You should have pushed on with b5! Now, he gets to block it with Qb6.>

I looked at 15...b5 during the game but didn't like my position after 16.a4.

Feb-10-12  nanobrain: <Iskubadayb: Wow, bradidik pag 23. Qc5 niya ay meron ka uling b5 push! Malakas yun ha. Pag atras ng yokabs e Rc8!! Lamang ka pa dito sa pwesto! I think.>

e baka hindi umatras e. Papano kung sa b6 pumunta yung N?

All throughout the game pakiramdam ko e parang daga na pinaglalaruan muna ng pusa bago kainin.

Feb-10-12  MORPHYEUS: <Penguincw: 38...Nxf3 is a nice way to net a pawn, in the end>

Yup, there's a good chance GM Torre did not see this coming (because it's a simul).

Feb-10-12  Iskubadayb: Nanov, Qd8 lang pag Nb6.

Sa simul, there's no concrete analysis. You play with your eyes... mostly. A lot of times, you draw blank but you can't take your time. Well, you can but it's embarrassing, so you play those safe looking moves pretty quickly. :)

Apr-24-12  LoveThatJoker: <nanobrain> This was a really nice game by you, man!

Congratulations!
