Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-04-12  TheTamale: Dunst plays his opening as a defense and gets trounced.

I guess 18) ...f6 was a stinker because in the end Black gets crushed on this a2-h8 diagonal.

fredthebear: This immediately transposes to a Nimzowitsch Defense that normally starts 1.e4. Black's odd-looking retreat 4...Nb8 is actually one of the main lines given in MCO.
May-14-20  TheTamale: OOPS... what I meant to say 8 years ago was the "a1-h8 diagonal."
May-14-20  JimNorCal: <Tamale>: "what I meant to say 8 years ago"

LOL

May-14-20  Brenin: <TheTamale>: you may have been right first time: Black gets crushed along both diagonals (and the h-file and the 7th rank, for that matter). The final position is about as bad as it could be.

FSR: The opening is not a Van Geet (Dunst) Opening, which would be 1.Nc3. It is a Nimzowitsch Defense, which would typically begin 1.e4 Nc6 2.d4 d5. White's first two moves were transposed here. Correction slip submitted.

fredthebear: And Dunst' Defense can be treated in gambit style: Van Geet Opening: Berlin Gambit (A00) 1.Nc3 Nc6 2.d4 d5 3.e4 dxe4 4.d5

After 23...e6, it's mate-in-five, I think.
