  Octavia: 32 Rb7+ k m 33 NxP wouldn't work because of NxP+

Marmot PFL: Even 34...Nxf3+ is playable 35 gf3 f5 regains the piece

waustad: 3 minutes to no rapid game.
Apr-22-12  znsprdx: znsprdx: wasn't 34.Nxc5 playable?winning everything?
Apr-22-12  hugogomes: Marmot, it would be nice if you posted number on the moves but you're wrong. Nxc5 instead of 33.Rc7 doesn't work because 33.. Rxf2 wins a piece, not 32...Nxf3+ because then 33. Kg3! and it's white who is winning.

Marmot PFL: <Marmot, it would be nice if you posted number on the moves>

I did, so you must have me confused with someone else.

Apr-22-12  Octal: 35 g4 followed by 36 Kg3 looks interesting.
Apr-22-12  Octal: Oh well nevermind. I guess this is a draw.

Marmot PFL: A good defense by Kramnik. The game went long enough that he doesn't have to play rapid chess and can try to win with white tomorrow.

waustad: Kramnik's daughter seems to be doodling on the score sheet. I wonder if he sells them like Ponmariov.
Apr-22-12  eternaloptimist: Thx cg for providing live coverage of this match!!
Apr-22-12  Blunderdome: In the postmortem, Daria Kramnik suggested that for Black's 23rd, he should place the captured white knight on c8.

acirce: Great talent, that girl. Very creative.
Apr-22-12  BadKnight: when kramnik was reviewing the game with aronian she was scribbling on a paper that looked like scoresheet.

Ulhumbrus: Kramnik succeeds in defending the Berlin wall as he did at the world championship match against Kasparov at London 2000
Apr-22-12  Edeltalent: <napoleon123: anybody out there actually fancy playing the berlin? it doesnt tempt me.>

Neither does it tempt me, but the big guys apparently like it because of it's subtlety and deep maneuvering. I remember Aronian (who normally plays it with black) saying that it's the king of endgames.

FSR: 37...Ra2!! Kramnik finds one of the 14 drawing moves in the position.

FSR: I played the Berlin a couple of times around 1975, when I was rated 1600 or something. If you know what you're doing (I certainly didn't), it's a rock-solid opening. If I'd studied it, I wouldn't mind playing it against higher-rated players.
