17.Qf4 is smart move.....if black bxc3, there is no way to stop checkmate with white 18.f6 unless white willing to sacrifice his queen...after f6 white...Qg5 then Qh6, black could sacrifice the queen or delay the mate with c2+ but white could reply with Kxc2
