May-08-12  balzarius: I think White should take on e5 now.

ChessMan94: I'm not a Naka fan but he is going to win the whole thing.
May-08-12  balzarius: Time will be soon a decisive factor.

Shams: <Stripunsky lost in 11 moves.> A debacle from the get-go for him. 11.d3?? was perhaps unconscious suicide. Onischuk picks up a free point with Black.

eternaloptimist: <waustad: Stripunsky lost in 11 moves.> yes & he lost w/ WHITE in 11 moves. what a stupid blunder 11.Pd3??? was. it deserves 3 question marks instead of the usual 2 question marks.

eternaloptimist: my prediction for the 2 cellar dwellers of the tournament.: stripunsky & kaidanov. kaidanov has played in A BUNCH of u. s. chess championships & has never won it. he hasn't played well in a lot of them.
May-08-12  balzarius: Chucky thinking more than 5 minutes on his first move after Laznicka's 1.d4 is really surprising.

goldenbear: This already looks like 1-0 to me. Bx Qx Rb1 gives White a huge lead in development.

goldenbear: Naka went the conservative route...
May-08-12  balzarius: Well,it was actually a transmission error.
May-08-12  Blunderdome: Poor Stripunsky.
May-08-12  balzarius: 10...Nxe5 dxe Ne8 Bxa3 Qxa3 looks good for White.

Strongest Force: Strip doesn't play much but he will finish ahead of LP.

goldenbear: Still tough for Black, but in principle he should be theoretically able to draw. Alekhine would have gone in for 9.Bxa3 Qxa3 10.Rb1! in a heartbeat.
May-08-12  Jason Frost: Maybe strip decided to play the game blindfold and though he played 7. Ne2 instead of 7. Qe2. Perplexing game, extraordinarily perplexing blunder.

Strongest Force: Nak is no Alekhine...I still love him :)
May-08-12  balzarius: Time management is very poor on Black's side,so 1-0 is the most likely outcome.

karnak64: Is this madcap fun or what?
May-08-12  Jason Frost: <balzarius: Time management is very poor on Black's side,so 1-0 is the most likely outcome.>

20 minutes in an odd opening isn't really that significant to the final result

Robin01: Now we see what white can do with his lead in development.
